Player mode

Road to Pro: be a footballer, from age 13

Forget managing. In Player mode you are the player. You start at 13 with a family, a school, mates and a town, playing for a local youth side. Plan every week, juggle homework and training, catch a scout's eye, survive trials and the academy, and turn pro.

Once you sign, you're a real player in the same world as everyone else: picked by your manager, sold by your club, maybe capped by your country.

  • Start at 13
  • Family, school and town
  • Scouts and trials
  • Key match moments
  • Retire into management

How to start

  1. Open play.trophora.com and tap Choose your own club, name and mode.
  2. Tap Player mode at the top.
  3. Pick your country, then build your player under Your player: name, position, stronger foot, where you grow up, family money, talent and looks.
  4. Leave From 13, with a youth team selected.
  5. Tap Start my story. You land on the Week planner.

What you control

  • Your week: every evening and weekend slot, from training at the pitch and gym sessions to homework, family time and friends.
  • Training focus: all-round, pace and fitness, finishing, passing and vision, defending, or goalkeeping.
  • Key match moments: through on goal, a free kick, a winger running at you. You choose; your skills decide the odds.
  • Your town: the Town map shows the pitches, library, gym and more that your area has.
  • Decisions: trials, academy places, scholarships, agents, contracts and life events, answered on the Week tab and your phone.
  • How you're doing: energy, mood, fitness, grades, social life, family and money.

A typical week

Fill in the slots for the week ahead, from Monday evening to Sunday afternoon. Maybe train at the pitch on Wednesday, do homework on Monday, and watch a semi-pro match on Saturday afternoon to get near the scouts. Then hit Live this week. Sunday is match day for your youth team, and with Play key match moments ticked you make the big calls yourself. Happy with a plan? Make this my routine, then Skip ahead until something needs you.

How you win and progress

  • Get noticed: scouts come to matches, and you can email clubs or film skills for a highlights reel.
  • Track who's watching under Football > Scouts and trials. When a club's interest reaches 50, they invite you for a trial.
  • Pass a trial and the offers come: an academy place, a two-year scholarship, or a contract.
  • Sign a contract and you're a footballer, picked, transferred and maybe called up for your country.
  • At the end of your playing days you can retire into management, carrying your playing record with you.

Tips

  • Don't neglect school. Grades and family matter here, and burning out on energy hurts your trial performances.
  • Where you grow up matters: city areas see more scouts, rural villages fewer. Your area decides your pitches, buses and library.
  • Watching a semi-pro match on a Saturday afternoon puts you near scouts. It's one of the best free ways to get seen.
  • In key moments the odds and the skill used are shown for each choice. Play to your strengths.
  • Released? Plenty of players still make it through non-league and second chances. Keep going.
